Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a colorful mix of heroes, and a gripping narrative showcasing divine entities, evil spirits, and dark forces growing in power within the urban setting.
Note: Revealing details for Episode 3 of this adventure follow below.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The latest chapter concluded with a huge suspense moment and revealed the first table of characters who will branch out from the main group to begin their independent quest, distinct from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
Considering a large ensemble, it was clear from the outset that keeping everyone at the same party would be impossible.
Hence, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, weaving together the individual narratives before splitting into three separate parties: Fighters, Schemers, and Questers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
According to the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for players who enjoy a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might look mismatched, but the events of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the group knows exactly where to go next after a intense first encounter with the enemy group.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose passing started the campaign’s events—used The Crow Keepers for his own means, entering the secret base, attacking the character, and swiping all the magical artifacts to sell off.
The traitor then paid off his debts and escaped to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each character has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the region and cautions that it is a nasty location.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having resisted his relatives’ demands to eliminate Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their reputation as important members in House Halovar could help the team enter locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The fighter swore a life debt to The savior for his salvation and will now follow him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the powers that rule the setting for a range of causes, making remaining behind too risky:
- The rogue and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and The cleric betrayed House Halovar and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This means them little choice but to head to the northern region in search of Casimir.
